While the rest of the country is recovering from the seasonal festivities, the Orthodox Christians in Seychelles celebrate Christmas on the 7th of January.
The celebration of Orthodox Christmas is delayed due to the church’s adherence to the Julian calendar, which is different from the Gregorian one used by other Christian churches. On the 25th of December, Christians all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus. The Orthodox, on the other hand, observe the event on January 7.
