The road to the 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Seychelles officially kicks off with the launch event held one year ahead. Set between May 1 to May 11, the tournament will feature 16 nations, including Seychelles in its inaugural global football appearance.
The launch event, held at Kempinski Resort in Mahe’s south, saw the presence of Seychelles President Wavel Ramkalawan, who is also the patron of the Seychelles Football Federation (SFF), alongside SFF’s president Elvis Chetty and FIFA’s director of competitions Jaime Yarza.
Chetty emphasized the significance of hosting this tournament, citing its potential to boost tourism and infrastructure development, including the construction of a new beach soccer stadium in Roche Caiman. Yarza expressed confidence in Seychelles’ ability to deliver a top-notch event.
With preparations underway, the official logo, winner’s trophy, and tournament theme song, “Kot mon ne” (Where I Was Born), performed by local artist Mercenary, were unveiled during the ceremony. President Ramkalawan highlighted the tournament’s importance in putting Seychelles on the global stage and expressed hope for its positive impact on local football.
