FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup: Seychelles Seeks Local Musicians for Theme Song

So, there’s this super cool opportunity for Seychellois musicians and composers. They’re being invited to come together and create the official theme song for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, which is happening in Seychelles in May 2025.

David Andre, the secretary general of the Seychelles National Institute for Culture, Heritage and the Arts (SNICHA), made the announcement on Friday. He emphasized that they want this to be a collaborative effort to produce the very best song Seychelles can offer.

He said something like, “We may be a small nation, but if we can host a World Cup, our artists can definitely create an amazing anthem to go with it.”

Andre also clarified that this isn’t a competition. Instead, it’s an open call for all artists to work together to create the best theme song ever for a FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

The song will be featured throughout the competition and in promotional materials. Even though it’s not a contest, everyone involved will be paid and credited for their work, and FIFA will have the distribution rights.

Andre mentioned that the song should highlight Seychelles and promote it as a country.

The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup is set for May 1 to 11, 2025, with 16 nations, including Seychelles as the host. It’s a big deal because Seychelles is the first African country to host this event, which is impressive given that beach soccer was only introduced there about ten years ago.

Seychelles has hosted international beach soccer tournaments before, like the COSAFA Beach Soccer Cup and the Beach Soccer African Nations Championship (AFCON) in 2015.

In the 2015 COSAFA tournament, Madagascar won and then went on to win the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations the same year.

The first Beach Soccer World Cup held outside Brazil was in 2008 in Marseille, France. The latest edition in 2024 took place in Dubai, and Brazil won their sixth title after beating Italy 6–4 in the final.
