Air Seychelles to Launch First Flight to Reunion on Dec. 30
Air Seychelles is gearing up for its inaugural flight to Réunion, a French Overseas Department, on December 30. This marks the start of seasonal direct flights between the two destinations, aimed at enhancing connectivity and boosting tourism.
According to Tourism Seychelles, the national carrier will operate one weekly direct flight to Réunion on December 30, 2024, and on January 6, 13, and 18, 2025, with a technical stop in Mauritius.
The first flight on December 30 is scheduled to depart from Roland Garros Airport at 2:50 PM, arriving in Seychelles at 5:25 PM. In 2025, flights on January 6, 13, and 18 will depart Seychelles at 8:00 AM, landing in Réunion at 10:35 AM.
Air Seychelles’ CEO, Sandy Benoiton, expressed enthusiasm about the new service, saying, “Following the positive feedback from our recent SPA agreement with Air Austral, we’re excited to launch this seasonal route. It aligns perfectly with the holiday season, offering travelers a seamless journey to Seychelles in time for the New Year.”

Bernadette Willemin, Director General for Destination Marketing at Tourism Seychelles, also shared her excitement about the new flights. “The introduction of Air Seychelles flights to Réunion is a pivotal step that will boost visitor arrivals to Seychelles. This strategic move enhances accessibility for Réunionnais tourists, allowing them to experience our pristine beaches, rich culture, and unique attractions, reinforcing Seychelles as a leading tourism destination in the Indian Ocean.”
This new route highlights the commitment of both Tourism Seychelles and Air Seychelles to providing smooth travel experiences and encouraging cultural exchange between Seychelles and Réunion.
Additionally, Air Seychelles has partnered with Air Austral through a special prorate agreement (SPA), enabling customers to travel between Seychelles and Réunion on a single ticket. This agreement follows Air Austral’s decision to discontinue its nonstop route between Seychelles and Réunion, leading to discussions with Air Seychelles to maintain the service.
Under the agreement, Air Seychelles transports passengers from Seychelles to Mauritius, while Air Austral handles the segment from Mauritius to Réunion.
Currently, Air Seychelles operates flights between Seychelles and Mauritius three times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays—offering travelers various options for planning their holidays and connections. The airline also flies regionally to Colombo, Tel Aviv, Johannesburg, Mumbai, and Mauritius, using its Airbus A320NEOs.
