Seychelles Electronic Border System (SEBS) Remains the Official Government Website for Travel Authorizations
Tourism Seychelles advises prospective travelers planning a visit to the stunning Indian Ocean destination to exercise caution regarding third-party websites when applying for travel authorization.
The Seychelles authorities emphasize that the Seychelles Electronic Border System (SEBS), accessible exclusively through its official government website, Seychelles Electronic Border System – Official Government Website (govtas.com), is the official platform for obtaining valid travel authorizations. There is a standard application fee of €10 per application. Travelers are cautioned that applications made through third-party websites may not be accepted by the SEBS platform.
Mrs. Bernadette Willemin, the Director General for Destination Marketing at Tourism Seychelles, addressed the situation, noting the vigilance of the Seychelles Immigration Department and the Tourism Department regarding third-party websites.
Mrs. Willemin mentioned the emergence of a third-party website following recent complaints received by immigration officers at Seychelles airport. Travelers reported paying for their travel authorizations, with some not being processed initially, leading to additional payments. It’s essential to highlight that these websites charge fees significantly higher than the standard €10 processing fee. Visitors and international partners are reminded to use the official website for travel authorization, exercising caution and staying informed to avoid potential dissatisfaction.
Mrs. Willemin stressed that these third-party websites could endanger travelers, potentially causing issues during embarkation or necessitating repayment for authorization processing upon arrival. This could result in additional costs and dissatisfaction, impacting the destination’s reputation.
Travelers encountering such websites are urged to promptly report such activities to Seychelles authorities through the Tourism Department’s website, seychelles.com.
The Director General for Destination Marketing affirmed Tourism Seychelles’ commitment to ensuring a secure and enjoyable experience for all visitors. By using the official Seychelles Electronic Border System, travelers can confidently obtain valid travel authorization, protecting themselves from potential scams.
